Two poems from these are the words
by Nikita Gill
ON THE FIRST FLOWERS OF SPRING
The thrush is building a nest
right outside your bedroom window,
and the freshly thawed breeze
brings hope into your now green garden.
The flowers you planted last year
sing in yellow and pink blooms,
spring and you are soulmates,
life blossoming everywhere for you,
filled with healing and promise.
ON THE FIRST LEAVES OF AUTUMN
Between hot chocolate and pumpkin spice,
mellow warmth and misty mornings,
the gold of your mother shines
alongside your father’s glowing smile.
Your grandmother bakes buttery cookies,
while your grandfather rakes the amber orange garden.
In a season where everything leaves,
you learn the fine art of loving and letting go.
