if I say that I don’t need you
the clothes you wear aren’t cool
laugh when I should hold you
make you feel a fool
if I’m angry and irrational
and nothing seems to help
I don’t expect you to forgive me
but I’m talking to myself

if I say that you don’t ‘get’ me
even though that’s wrong
make you feel inadequate
dismiss your favourite song
if I tell you you’re not special
like everybody else
I don’t expect you to forgive me
but I’m talking to myself
