Forward Arts Foundation Commissions New Poems for National Poetry Day

October 5, 2016

Forward Arts Foundations commissions new poems from the five poets shortlisted for the Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection. Poets were invited to respond to the National Poetry Day 2016 theme of ‘messages’.

The Felix Denis Prize for Best First Collection celebrates the best books of poetry from new poets publishing in the UK. The prize helps readers find great original poetry, as well as giving a birds-eye view of new currents in poetry. The commissions embrace wildly different responses to the ‘messages’ theme, from a scientific satellite’s timely warning about climate change, to a message for a lost loved-one. We have the disposable messages of text-speak alongside the messages which have been passed down through generations.

Enjoy reading, listening and watching these new poems on in our Storify and also in our downloadable e-book.
