Betjeman Prize

Our friends the Betjeman Prize have opened their 2017 competition



The 2017 Betjeman prize is open! This year’s judges Chris Riddell and Rachel Rooney are already reading entries to the UK’s top poetry competition for 10-13 year olds. Deadline – Midnight 31st July. Prizes include £500 to the winner, £500 to the winner’s school, Eurostar tickets and a three-day creative writing camp with a top poet!


The Betjeman Prize also funds a year-long programme of poetry events and school visits across the country.



Kids may enter poems on the theme of ‘place’ individually – online or by post – or via their school. Teachers who enter their whole class in the 2017 Betjeman Poetry Prize join a prize draw to win a poet visit for their school:
